Halloween Preview


In early September little Miss found her costume.  She carried it around Target until I agreed to buy it for her.  Trust me when I say, there is nothing cuter then a 3 year old unicorn.

 
 
Well, except maybe a 3 year old Wonder Women. These are pajamas, but she has been wearing them as much as she can. 

 

My oldest, can never seem to decided what she wants. This year, we have gone from wanting to be Little Red Riding Hood to a Pirate. Yet, after spending forever in the costume store we walk out with Cleopatra. She will make an adorable Cleopatra. 


Of course, I am the smart mom (insert sarcasm), who purchased her kids white costumes. We live in Washington, and I can promise the ground is going to be wet when we trick or treat. Oh, well one year I will learn. :)

Do you dress up for Halloween? I am probably just going to be a bat again this year.

If you buy, it you will eat it

That doesn't always in my household. Well, unless it is sugar and then yes, I eat all things.  Last week, I grocery shopped mid week because I new our weekend would be crazy. That means, I watched food it there and thought about cooking it.

Sunday, I finally decided to stop looking at it and actually cook! I am proud to say we at all our meals at home on Sunday. If you know us, this is rare. However, it is a baby step in the correct direction for me.  I then proceeded to food prep for the week while the family started carving pumpkins. See, I don't like doing that, as much as, I like to cook and eat the pumpkin seeds.


Meal prep was done and I have 5 lunches and 5 breakfast planned for the week. Not pictured are breakfast burritos wrapped and ready for a quick reheat.

*Update*

Well, its is Wednesday and I didn't get this posted so I figured I would update. Overall, I have been eating to my plan. I have had a couple of slip ups, like the soda I drank last night. The good thing about slip ups is it quickly reminds me why I want to limit certain foods. The soda kept me up last night until 2:30AM, which makes me feel worse today. Nothing, like a little reminder. :)

One day at time, one day at a time - I just keep moving forward is what I keep repeating.

Weak Sauce

Ever do something you thought was easy?

Then wake up the next day super sore. That is how I feel after playing Just Dance 2016 with my 9 year old. We played Sunday night for about 45 minutes straight. It was fun, we giggle and laughed. Especially, when she set it to record us....only it was only focused on my butt! YAY, trust me the ankle you never want to see when dancing.

Monday, I was fine, well until I reached back in the car and was like Whoa! My arms hurt and remembered it was from all the arm motions. Monday, night at dinner the family made fun of me, which was deserved. :) So, I challenged her to another round.

I am so out of shape. Today, my legs and arms are sore. I feel like I did when I used to run half marathons. It was a bit of a wake up call or another realization that I need to move more.  This comes after last week I went to donate blood and my blood pressure was to high to donate.  Nothing luck trying to do a good think and your body telling you. Nope, not this time dummy.

I pulled out my 21 Day fix chart. My goal is to start doing better. I am keep making these plans, and having no action. Maybe instead I should stop planning and just start doing. Even if it means getting my booty handed to me at Just Dance, it is better then having a booty that can't dance.

Cheer

If you follow me on FB or on Instagram you probably know that I am my daughters cheer coach. We have been immersed in Cheer since late July, and are about halfway through our football cheering season.

I was never a cheerleader, but was a basketball player instead but my kiddo insisted that I coach this year. So here I am with a great co-coach and a the best 3rd-5th graders. I never thought that I would say it, but I love our squad. They are a great group of girls!  We also have a great group of parents. You know there is always that one, but we don't have it. Hopefully, I didn't jinx myself now. :)

 

 


We also, have a photographer on our team. Which makes for beautiful team photos while our girls cheer and of my little crazy also.


 
 
Today, I am thankful. Who knew that I would say that. I walked in to being a coach for my daughter, but now I really truly want all of our girls to have an amazing time.

Getting back on the wagon

Six days ago I bought a planner. I am sure you are thinking. WOW, that is great. HA!

I decided I am over logging online or signing into apps. I have started tracking everything I eat in the planner. Easy, simple and yet such a struggle. My life as been crazy lately, and this is one thing that is giving me control.

Today, I started cutting sugar and giving up soda. The funny things, is I never thought I drank that much soda. Yet, when I looked back over the past few days I had some every day.  So it is time for a change.  Of course, today my 3 year old is giving me a run for the money on nap time.

More then anything I want to grab like 10 cookies and shove them in my mouth. One day at  time right?

Hopefully, I will start writing about my journey more, as it is time to take a big step in the right direction.

I love Summer

If you have followed my blog at all, over the years, you know that I love summer!

I love hot weather, I love playing in the sun and at the lake. This weekend was AMAZING and we spent way to much time


 
 
My oldest was afraid of tubing, which I am not sure why as this kid loves rides and waterslides. After some convincing, she was ready to go a little faster.  My youngest on the other hand loved it. She wanted to sit up and even tried to stand up at one time. 

 
 
Sunday we had even more fun in the sun, spending the morning playing out side riding bikes and skateboarding. Moving to a Cheer get together in the afternoon at the beach. I heart our cheer squad this year. The girls are great and have so much fun outside of cheer together.  I am exhausted and don't even know where to start on hitting my goals for this week. I will check in tomorrow and see where I am.

Creating habits

For the past few weeks I have been trying to get into good skincare habits. I know, I know you should always wash your make up at night. But, you know, get the kids to bed. Prep for the next day and the last thing I want to do is wash my face.

However, as I get older I know I need to. My main problem is I don't like systems. I don't like things that are going to take to long. What I do like are products that get the job done without a bunch of nasty chemicals on your skin.

One of the items that I received from Skinny & Co last week was a make up remover/face wash.  I started using it right away, as I like one step systems. Remove make up and clean my face at the same time...sold!

I live in Washington, so Coconut oil is always solid for me, which is a good thing. I scoop a little out and the warmth from my hands turns it into oil. This makes it so easy to apply and wash my face. A warm wash cloth later and my make up is removed and my face is clean.


How cute are their 2oz jars, yes real glass jars. A hazard in my house with a small child, but oh so adorable.  I paired it with my favorite night serum and crème. Followed up with my must have night time lip mask and bam! My face has never looked better.

Stuck in rut

Ever feel stuck, like you just can't get out of the rut. Whether it be a good one where you are working out but board or a bad one, where you can't get the motivation to move forward.

That is where I am right now. I fell like I just can't get over a hump, the hump that kicks me into the good habits and the wanting to workout.  In order to overcome this, and bump myself over the hump I decided it was time to set some goals for the rest of the month.

Here we go:

1. Run 2x a week - using C25K method, more if I feel up to it. Focus on 2 days right now.
2. Limit coffee to 2 cups, no sugar creamer. Use Stevia and half and half
3. No fast food, should be an obvious one, but we tend to fall into a rut in our household.

The plan is to make the goals attainable and to continue to build on them as I go.

Skinny & Co Unboxing

Can I get a, woot woot!! I love unboxing stuff. I usually only do video's in my private VIP group, but today I thought I would share one on my blog.

I received a package from Skinny &Co  to try some of there coconut oil based products.  Coconut oil is great for the skin, and I have always wanted to do oil pulling.   Watch my video to see which items I received to try. Check back over the next few weeks for my reviews.

 

What do you love to use coconut oil for? Have you done the oil pulling? Off to research and see what I can find. I can't wait to try some of these things. I wonder if I can get my husband to try it with me.

When I say Go, you say

Fight!

Cheer season is officially starting on Monday.  We have had camp, rookie practice but Monday starts our full squad practice. Not going to lie, I might be a little scared. I was not a cheerleader, I played basketball. Coaching basketball would be easier for me, but instead my oldest wanted to do Cheer. Last year, I watched. This year I volunteered to coach.  There is nothing more humbling then trying to figure out how to cheer. Again, not a cheerleader, not a dancer and the last time I did gymnastics I was in elementary school.

With all of that it is fun! My kiddo loves it and my youngest wants to be just like big sister, which means I have many more years of cheer to come.

 
 
In other news, since coming back from Chicago I have been in serious product testing mode. Yesterday, it was a new mask, Sugar Mama body scrub and Fall Out Girl body wash!  I love 
them all. The mask is a tighten and brighten mask, which at 38 I need all the help I can get. The Sugar Scrub, will not leave you greasy and smells like salted caramel, hello YUM! Fall out girl is a black berry wash, that doesn't mesh well with the body scrub but smells amazing on its own. 


Oh and down there in the corner of the picture is our new Orange Cara-mellow Sugar Lip Scrub. If that doesn't have you licking your lips, I don't know what will. It tastes like a creamcicle and leaves your lips so moisturized and soft.  I love a good lip scrub. I love my little soap and lotion business, especially when new products come out. Nothing better then pampering yourself and making money.

Off to put my little one down or her afternoon nap, have a fab weekend.


Lake Day!

Some days you go to work and be a grown up. Other days you decide to take the day off and play with the family.

Wednesday was the perfect day to go surfing with the family! Our girls love the water and living near the lake makes it for easy family fun.   My oldest has wanted to start wake surfing, the problem is she needs to get over her fear of it. It is crazy, how you can want to do something and be so afraid at the same time.  She was able to get up with my husband for a little while before giving in to fear.


My little miss just isn't ready yet. She can't stay focused long enough to hold on. She does love swimming and just hanging out on the surf board.

I am lucky to have grown up around boats as a child, I am feel blessed that we can share this fun with our children. 

One of these days, I am going to start working out with intention again. I have goals, I just need to stop thinking about the goals and start working on them.

My 9 and 3

The end of July and into August is birthday celebrations all around in our family.  We celebrated my oldest birthday at the end of July with her turning 9 and just looking like a grown up. Seriously, when did this happen! She is so full of life and I am happy to say just wants to play outside with her friends. This year is going to be a blast, with Cheer season just starting, going to a new school and making lots of new friends.
 
 
My little miss turned three yesterday and has always been known as the sour and sweet child! Don't let this cute exterior full you. This child is full of energy and will go from jumping off the top of the coach to giving you hugs and kisses and asking if you are okay in 2 seconds.
  
 
 
Fail Cake! I am not crafty - I am no a DIYer in any way shape or form. So when I attempted to make a cake that looked like a cat on a whim, well this is what you get. I am thankful my 3 year old could see my attempt and was happy with her kit-cat cake as she called it. Just don't ask me to make baked goods for you. :) It will taste good but look terrible.


Next birthday up is my husbands, in a couple of weeks. Until then we wait for summer to show back up.  In Chicago last weekend it was hot and muggy. This morning, I am sitting in a hoodie and waiting for the sun to come out behind those clouds.

Well, I tried!

I really did  want to blog my entire trip as it happened, but then I got cheap and didn't want to pay for Internet access at the second hotel. By the way, that is the dumbest thing. If I am already paying way to much for a room, shouldn't Internet be free. Just saying! 

Anyways, I had a fab time in Chicago, we toured, we ate and we celebrated our Posh accomplishments.

Let's see I rocked a cheer bow for team spirit nothing like a high pony and a big bow to show your team spirit!

After eating Chicago style hotdogs, I picked a Louisville style one day for lunch!  Who doesn't love melty cheese, bacon and onion rings on your hot dog....oh and a pretzel bun. So good! I will say, almost felt guilty as I saw many of my friends at a Beach Body conference posting all these healthy items. But then, well I tasted it! Yumm!

Saturday morning, I also earned my Tiffany Bracelet! You earn this by hitting the 3rd highest rank with Perfectly Posh. That is right, a little direct sales company, you know those ones you never make money at. Well, I must have figured something out as I am making money and moving up the ranks with a little hard work and business ownership!

Oh, and we ate some more!  Amazing burger from Lake an State in the Wit hotel!  I had some great food in Chicago so if you ever need a reason to visit, besides all of the sites - food!


I got home last night, I still feel a bit hungover from all of the poshy fun! Tomorrow starts, getting back on track with eating. I might even step on the scale to see if did any damage or if accomplished enough movement to make it equal out!

What do you think? Hotels should have free WiFi right? Especially 4/5 star hotels.

Chicago Day 1

Long time no write, so much has been going on since I last wrote, we went to Hawaii, my kiddos got out of school, I lost my job and right now I am sitting in Chicago.

You might ask why I am in Chicago and the answer is simple! Premiercon, I am sure you are like what the heck is Premiercon.  Well, every 6 months at catalog release Perfectly Posh has a Convention and invites those who have reached the level of Premier consultant and a few other equally awesome people.

I received in invite to Premiercon  because I ranked up to the Premier level in October and in March I hit Silver Premier. The third highest level in the company! That means, I earned a beautiful bracelet at our special breakfast at Tiffany's dinner! I am beyond excited, so of course I had to make the trip.

I have never been to Chicago, so I built in an extra day before the fun starts to check out the City. I am sure I won't hit all the cool spots, but this is what I did today.

Woke up at 4AM, I hate flying in the opposite direction of time zones. :) After calling an Uber, my first ride I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare. I meet up with  another Posh Consultant and we jumped on our Alaska Airlines Flight and headed off to Chico!


We took the L train into the city to locate our hotels. Gerald was very helpful in getting me set straight on how easy it was to use. Plus my daughter, wanted me to send her pictures of my adventures with Gerald while I am away.  If you get motion sickness like me, the L train can be a little rough. :)

For my first night in Chicago, we are staying at the Wit, we have awesome views of the City and Lake. We can also see were Lollapalooza will be this weekend.

We set out on some site seeing adventures, I won't bore you with all the crazy details but we saw the bean, a lake, a river and some pretty cool boats. This might be a former running blog, but today we did some series miles. Plus, we did see a bunch of crazies running along the waterfront in the 88 degree weather.
 
 
After our walk we ended yup at BlackFinn where I gobbled down a small salad, flat bread and a special ice tea. It was supposed to have some booze in it but I think they forgot to add it. The drink was pretty weak. 

 
 
On the way back to our hotel the sun was setting and the Chicago Sign was looking pretty cool to this out of Towner. 

 
 
We decided t call it a night, but not without first making two trips to the local Walgreens. One to get some booze and the other to realize we need a bottle opener.  I may be on my second glass of wine when I decided to sit down and write this, so any spelling errors and inconsistencies can be blamed on that. :)  More to come tomorrow and all weekend long.

Let's go for a hike

Let's go for a hike, I said.

Where? He said.

Just up the road?

This is the conversation I had with my family on Saturday morning. It was beautiful out, and I wanted to get out and do something. I had just gotten a new toddler carrier for my youngest and I wanted to try it.  I live in an area with a TON of hiking trails.

I had noticed a trail with a sign on it less then a mile form our house. I thought, it would be a good trail to explore as a family. Truthfully, I wanted to go explore it months ago but wanted to go with someone.  So we set off. Only planning to explore for 30 minutes and turn around and come back.

I carried the baby (2.5 year old/30lber) on my back for the first half mile. It was uphill, and switch backs. Then my husband offered to take her. Let's just say 47 minutes in, 1 mile in we decided that was enough and we turned around. :)

 
Had we reached that top, nope. But we reached a nice resting place to make the turn around. The kids were getting restless and hungry. We had brought snacks and water so we were at least a little prepared.  


One mile back down this time in 20 minutes! It was a fun little adventure. We now know this trail is a mile straight up and a lot of work. My calves are a little sore today and while I was slow, it was great to accomplish this.  Now, to research some trails a little better around my house. The requirements are that they are close and kid friendly. The youngest we carry most of the way, but we like to let her get down and run around. 

Family fitness is fun! Can't wait to see what else I can find for us to do until boating season begins.

So Delish!!!

My good friend over at Bunny Bee Online shared with me this she found at Dashing Dish. I was super hesitant to try it as I don't like Cottage Cheese. I mean I don't know if I don't like it because I don't remember EVER eating it. Many times, she told me it was good and I need to try it. She sad it keep you full and not have a load of calories.


I tweaked it just a little to for me and ended up with something that tasted like a chocolate shake and full belly for only 225 calories. I think if I do it again as a meal replacement I will use 2 scoops of protein powder for a 300 calorie shake.
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 cup Low fat cottage cheese
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 2 tbs malted milk powder
  • 1 pkt Truvia (I might use two next time)
  • 5ish Ice Cubes (I know technical there)
  • Some water, not sure just filled up to the line.

 
It was so good and filling! I can't wait to tweak it and instead of Cocoa Powder use PB2 and then not Truvia. This is a must have shake in my rotation. I was pleasantly surprised you don't taste the cottage cheese at all.

Weekend Update

 
This past weekend I really tried to get myself back on track. It started Friday night and continued through the weekend.
 
Saturday, I finished off Week 2 of Couch to 5K and Sunday, I started CIZE and finished with a 20 minute walk on the treadmill.

Starting over running sucks, but when I finish each run. I remember why I did in the past. I have to make sure my ankle is braced up, but whatever it takes.  After both workouts this weekend I followed them up with awesome smoothies which doubled as meal. 
 
 
My plan for the week looks like this:

Monday - C25K
Tuesday - CIZE
Wednesday - C25K
Thursday CIZE
Friday - Rest, I have an all day Event
Saturday - C25K
Sunday - 30 minutes walk
 
My goal is to get up before work and get this done. I tried to switch to night time workouts and I got lazy. I hate waking up but I do better in the AM.

12 fun ways to burn 100 Calories

Since, going back to work in September, I have always looked for ways to burn a few extra calories. Sitting at a desk all day as a way of slowing you down.   One thing I try to do every day is get out and walk, sadly it often ends up with me at Starbucks. So, that 100 calories I burned walking is instantly erased.  I have been eye balling another path close to my work that won't take me near food or coffee. If start taking a new path, but need a snack when I return to work there are a lot of great examples of healthy options out there.  I love a good smoothie, I am eyeing the Peaches n' Cream Smoothie, ohhhh or the Pina Colada, on The Light that is Right site. Trust me, I will share when I have a chance to make them.
 
Until then I am exploring other options to easily burn 100 calories in a short amount of time.  An easy favorite in my household is dancing. Both my kiddos (age 2 and 8) love to put on Pandora and dance around the living room.

Slipping back into old habits

The first of the year started and I quickly slipped into old habits. A cookie here, an extra coffee there. Before I knew it I found that I had gained back all the weight I had worked hard to lose. I became upset and lost my focus.
 
This morning, I woke up and the first thing I felt was pain. Then I stepped on the scale, something I hadn't done in a few weeks and wanted to cry.  The sad reality that the pain I had in my rotator cuff, was not only from a bad nights sleep but the fact that I had gained weight back didn't help.
 
I decided to not workout this week or at least until I can move my arm without wincing and really focus the rest of the month on food.  I cleaned of my 21 day fix planner and fired up my Myfitnesspal account to track it all.   This month, I have been really working locating my food triggers and my breakdowns.
 
This month, my triggers are sugar, as always but secondly when I get home from work. I pick my kids up on the way and they want snacks. But as I am feeding them snacks I am finding myself snacking, of course it isn't on anything good.  My goal is to start making protein shakes when I come homes. Something sweet to satisfy that craving but without over doing it.  A good friend has shared some from the Dashing Dish that I want to try. I mean seriosusly, how good does this Red Velvet Cheesecake Protein Shake look? Aaaamazing right?  I will defiantly share after I try it.

Back on track

 
 
 
As I sit here this morning and plan for my week, I keep telling myself to keep moving forward. :) One day, one choice keep going. Since my last post not much has changed, well. I am more loosely following the Beachbody program.
 
I need to get more on track with the 21 day fix way of eating.
 
Why? Because I feel better.
 
I need to start setting monthly goals again.
 
Why? Because I then I have something to reach for.
 
 
I am not where I want to be, but I realize that this is because of my choices and my actions.
 
 
 
We  all know this is true.  So step 1  - set some goals for February. Yes, I realize there are only 8 days left, but one day at a time.
 
 
February goals:
  1. Complete Week 2 of Couch to 5K plan
  2. Cut sugar intake in half
  3. Prepare and set March goals.
