Weekend Review - bachelorette party style

I have decided to do my weekend in review - you know bachelorette party style.  Saturday, I left the family to head down to Seattle. I was meeting a friend to get ready for the party in a hotel. Also, the place we would crash for the night. We were both excited for a kid free night.  I will admit we both joked about just staying in the hotel and ordering pizza. Maybe, just going to bed early, but in the end we got ready and headed out the door.

I realize I didn't get a full body shot of my outfit, but here is the finished product of my make up and wig. I spent way to  much time getting the wig on correct. Of course, now I am actually considering getting bangs. I probably won't though as I know that they will never look the same as in the purple wig. My sparkly headband was actually my headband from my wedding. Now, my husband can't say I never wore it again.

We took a cab up to Capital Hill to meet our friends for dinner at Julia's.  My friend an I shared dinner and awesome salad and nachos! I know a great combo, but we both really wanted nachos and felt the salad helped balance it out.

After dinner we watched the Le Faux show which is also at Julia's. It was pretty awesome.  From their website:
Featuring a full cast of impersonators, dancers and outrageous acts. Now you too can surprise your guests with the Northwest #1 Impersonator hot ticket!

You and your friends will see a Las Vegas style production of Britney, Cher, Ke$ha, Celine Dion, Rihana, Nicki Minaj, Jlo, Madonna and of course Lady Gaga plus many more concert-like performances from our Queens.

Here are a few photos from our evening - we had Pink

Celine

Adele
All join us! As well as Cher, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Jlo and of course Madonna!
After the show it was late, we took a cab back to our hotel and ordered pizza of course! After a few slices it was time to crash. A night filled with fun times and great laughs. I am so happy I went and enjoyed my kid free sleep even if I was exhausted all day Sunday still.

How was your weekend?

 Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/OSOstrong5k

The OSO Strong 5k Race/Run/Walk is charity event to benefit a community turned upside down from the tragic events on March 22, 2014.

If you have not seen the news: On March 22nd, 2014, an entire community was turned upside down by a catastrophic mudslide that claimed the lives of many and effected the lives of many more. The communities of Oso, Darrington, and Arlington will never forget this day as it put these town on the national stage to display to strong sense of pride, community and perseverance they all share. A few individuals from Arlington felt compelled to do something to give back to so many that were affected by this event.

You may wonder why the event is in July. First off logistic, second families are going to need long term support not just the AMAZING out pour of support they have right now.

Won't you gather your friends and family to support these small towns in there time of need.  If you do not live in Washington, or it is to far to drive their is a virtual option.

No pity party

Instead of having a pity party about the party this weekend I decided to see what I had to make myself feel more comfortable.  I mean after a few drinks I am sure it won't be a problem. :)  For my bachelorette party we dressed up in thrift store wedding dresses and went clubbing, I am thankful we didn't have phone camera's then.  If I can do that, I can do this.

I went looking in my room and remembered I am a runner, okay maybe a runner on a break right now.  I might not have any hooch wear, but I have running skirts. I have lots of them, many are filled with sparkle! I found a sparkly stripped tank that I wanted to match.

With some black leggings, heels and my purple wig I think I am set to go! Not super flashy, but sparkly and comfortable! I will share full photos on all forms of social media this weekend.

I plan to trim the wig up to shoulder length. I don't want it all itchy on my back, or I might do a Elsa style side braid we shall see what I am in the mood for that night.

Every participate in a themed night out?

TripleT

1. Thank you for the anniversary wishes. We had a very relaxing day, did a little shopping for an anniversary band for me and simple dinner as a family. If we are friends on FB or Instagram you may have already seen this photo of Sean and his girls.

2.  I worked out last night in our garage where the temp was 77! Which was color then outside and in my house.  We don't have A/C as I always figure it is a waste because we would only turn it on a few days out of the year, but I kind of wish we had it now.  I have been slacking this week on my workouts because I have the whole family home and I just haven't been able to get in a groove.  I have however, been improving my diet so that is a win.

3.  This weekend I have a bacholorette party to attend. It is one of those things that you want to go, but you are going to fill so out of place. I am the old lady in the bunch, well me and my friend, but my friend is a hottie so I am already feeling like I will be out of place. The old, and overweight lady - yes pity party for one here. We are going to a drag show during Gay Pride week so I know we will have a blast, I just need to get over myself and have fun. I did buy a purple wig today for the event. Don't worry I will post photos.

Do you have A/C in your home?

This happened!

2004 - 5 years after we started dating we decided to make it official.

2005- Then this, well I think this it was hard to find any digital photo's from 2005.

2006 - One last Halloween party before we decided to grow our family

2007 -  The little girl who made parenting look easy. The easiest baby hands down.

2008 - First trip as a family to Hawaii! Started her out early flying.

2009 - Starting new traditions, annual pumpkin patch trips, even if she was afraid of pumpkin guts

2010 - The always fun birthday celebrations

2011 - Our first half marathon

2012 - Easter fun!

 2013 - Completing our family

2014 - Still in disbelief over these two beautiful girls.

It is amazing to look at how much has changed in the past 10 years!
So many milestones in life that we shared together.
I look forward to the many more years we have ahead of us.

Happy Anniversary Sean!

Playground Workout

On Sunday I woke up and I knew that we didn't have anything for breakfast in the house. I talked the kiddo into walking to Panera for breakfast. It is about 1.3 miles from our house. She agreed and off we went with baby girl in the stroller.

After breakfast we walked over to her school which was just a few blocks away so she could play. While we were there I noticed another family there. A very heavy set dad, mom and their kids. Two of the three kids were also heavy set. Something about seeing that made me want to workout while she played and the baby napped.  I did walking lunges, push ups  on the bar, chair squats and that thing where you hang under the bar and pull up, but you are in a push up position. Technical I know.

By the end I had worked up a good sweat and we still had to walk the 1.5 miles home. I need to look up more stroller/boot camp workouts I an do at the park while the kid plays this summer. As we walked home my oldest said "now you don't have to workout"!

It was a great Sunday and a change in my workout environment is just what I needed. Sadly, I know there is no food in the house for breakfast this morning. I so need to go grocery shopping today.

Reward Clothing

I am falling in love with OnlineShoes. The more time I spend on their website, the more things I find that I love. Last Wednesday, I was tracking my order for my new pair of Uggs and I noticed they have clothing and bags!

As many of you know, I am in the process of losing weight post baby, post laziness. Since, I started this journey I find I am constantly shopping and dreaming of new clothing.  I made a comfortable outfit that I would love to get when I reach my next goal. Something to kick back and relax in, which truthfully is  90% of my closet. I am the most comfortable in this style of clothing, give me a hoodie over a nice top any day. Flip flops over heels and a t-shirt or a tank :)

How do you reward yourself when you reach your goals?

Infused water

I feel like I am always behind on the latest trends. I have read posts, saw pictures and skipped over a million Pinterest posts about Infused water. Or as everyone likes to claim detox water!  Because drinking a ton of water is going to detox you and make you fell amazing....well yes, some of that is true.  But I don't buy into the claims that if I drink this special combo of water and nothing else I will lose weight.

I already drink about 100oz of water a day. I like water, I like it plan, I like it flavored. I am not a fan of bubbly water or seltzer water. I like it cold, but usually drink it room temp because I leave my water bottle out. That habit drives my husband batty, and he is always putting it in the fridge when he is home. Which leads me to be like "hmmm where is my water bottle"!  Oops,  a little tangent there.

Last week when I was at the Online Shoes dinner I received a swag bag with this AWESOME cup.  It has a little area to put your fruits and veggies and make infused water. Sadly, to keep this cup I had to trade out an older water bottle (I might have an cup/water bottle problem).
Love this coffee cup as it allows me to use the largest setting on my Keurig. :)
I looked through my fridge this morning and found a cucumber and a lime - so spa water it was! It was great, because I wasn't sucking up little chunks of the fruit/veggies in the straw.  It made it so easy to enjoy the water through out the day.

Of course, I had to jump onto pinterest and start pinning all the recipes I had skipped over before.  So many great combos out there, I think I will be hitting the store today to pick up some berries and mint to add into my water.

Do you have any favorite Spa Water/Detox Water/Infused Water recipes?

My 30 days

You may remember I signed up for the Isagenix 30 day program. I had done the 9 day cleanse in the past, well I stopped early when I found out I was pregnant with my last child.  The 30 day cleanse was not to difficult, but I still sucked at it. I documented my first 8 day and then got tired of tracking.

Overall I lost 10 lbs and probably some inches, so I can't complain. I didn't feel like remeasuring hence the probably in there.  Quick Pro's and Cons of the program.

The basic gist of the program is Shake for breakfast and dinner, 400-600 calorie lunch,  and two snacks - 6 days a week and then 1 cleanse day.

Pros:
It is easy to follow
The shakes are 240 calories before you add anything so filling
The shakes actually taste good with just water, which is rare for a protein mix
I love planning big lunches

Cons:
Cleanse days were boring, very little eating made me miss eating
Cleanse drink was kind of gross, I drank it like a shot
Impromptu eating out with the family was difficult on any day. I had to really plan

The take away it is a good program. It made me think about a what I eat. At the end of the day I need to be able to do this on my own, only relaying on shakes when needed and not daily. I have a friend who has AMAZING results from this program. She looks awesome, but she also has the strong dedication. I am more disappointed in my ability to control my eating (as mentioned many times), then the program.

It's Wednesday and my goal today is to work on my diet one meal at time. Hopefully, I remember to take pictures to share with you all tomorrow.

diet vs workout

I have said it 100x my problem is diet and not working out. I need something to snap in my head that says Jen eat right, you will feel better.

I have been approached by a company to do a review of their food delivery service. It is a 30 day trail and they provide all meals. The problem is while this sounds AMAZING! I would still have to make food for my family. Sure, my meal would be easy but my husband and kids need to eat also. I am on the fence about this. I think if it was fall and I was working full time I would say yes, because I would be eating breakfast and lunch out of the house or at work. Then it would only be dinner.

Buuutttt, my kid is out of school on Wednesday.  Do I want to deal with making two meals for 30 days straight?  I am on the fence right now, but I need to hurry up and make up my mind.

Have you ever done a food program? Share what you have tried and what you liked or didn't like?

The one time she cooked

I actually cook meals often. They are not fancy, but they get the job done. For the past couple of weeks I have been following the Isagenix plan poorly. That's okay, I learned a lot about myself and I am working each day to improve my diet.   I plan to continue drinking Isagenix shakes 1-2x a day as needed, but want to incorperate more meals that are healthy for the whole family.

One of the worst meal times in our family is breakfast. We all often reach for high sugar fast foods, donuts, bear claws, pop tarts, sugary cereal and while I tend to eat healthier items. The family picks the worst morning foods. Then the foods  are in the house and I end up eating them. My goal is to slowly transition to healthier items for breakfast. My husband is cheese and dairy free and doesn't eat eggs much so I have to get creative.  This breakfast meal is not for him, it is for me and the baby since she is eating more table foods.

Egg Muffins are super simple and can be low calorie, low carbs and easy to make. I love making these as you can make any variety and keep it pretty low calorie.  Last night I made: turkey sausage,  egg beaters, onion, brussel sprouts and tossed in some spinach dip spices.

Everything you need except the sausage

Cook meat and veggies, drain any grease and then scoop 1/4 cup of the mixture into each muffin tin.
Of course, grease or spray muffin tin with non stick spray first. I know I am listing it all out of order.
Then pour egg beaters in to each tin, I used just over 2 tablespoons of egg beater per muffin cup.

Bake for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Time may vary depending on your oven.
And there you go! All cooked up and ready to eat. I store in a Tupperware container in the fridge until I am ready to reheat and eat. You could wrap and freeze and microwave you want them. This combo is about 75 calories per muffin. Eat alone, or add a side - also they are easy to add to a English muffin for a sandwich in the morning for a breakfast on the go.

Have you ever made egg muffins? Do you have a favorite combo? I used chorizo one time and it was so good! Calories were a little higher but yummmm!

Well, that's cool

I was shopping around OnlineShoes this weekend. See I need to find some shoes to wear to a Bachelorette Party  and I noticed these shoes at our last Panel meeting at OnlineShoes and I had to check them out.

First of all these shoes are hot! But that is not the awesome part that I found. I noticed on the page it had a little button that said "Show me how it fits" - I actually said out loud "wow that is cool" - I hear it from people all the time that they don't like to buy shoes online because they are afraid of how it fits. This little App will now help you get a better fit.

I clicked the button and the next step was to enter the size you normally wear. My post pregnancy feet are 10s now.

After that it asks other sizes you wear. Do you usually size up or down?

Next, up the size you should order for that particular shoe. So for this shoe I should size down.

I love that you can also look at the fit and the arch of the shoe compared to the other similar shoes. This is AWESOME, especially for my Flintstones feet. I love flats but they often pinch my toes. I can check out how my toes are going to be in the shoe.

I noticed these feature is not on ALL of their shoes yet, but it was on a couple different ones I tried.

What do you think of these shoes I picked? I am worried about the height, I am already 5'8'' and with the Approx. 3½'' heel height that puts me at almost 6ft. I love being tall, but I know a lot of the ladies we are going out with are short. I might look for a gladiator sandal instead.

All shoes featured above are available via OnlineShoes.com.  I am on a panel for them and working with them to feature shoes. Thank you for supporting a local Seattle Company.

Friday Confessions

Forgive my body for I have sinned

- It has been almost two days since my last healthy meal. Thursday should just be wiped clean and forgotten about. Friday is a new day.

- I was on the go ALL day yesterday and before bed I had pop tarts and OJ. Why?

- I am craving fresh fruit, yet don't buy it.

- I want good meals, but have been preparing the quickest cheapest for my family.

- I saw some pictures of my self that were not carefully posed and wanted to eat a bag of Oreo's.

- I see rock bottom coming at me with full force, but do nothing to stop it.

Today is a new day, one meal, one step at a time.  Bring on the weekend, time to get on pinterest and look at those million and one healthy recipes I have pinned and make a grocery list.

If you have a family favorite pinned on pinterest please share it with me.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Today's workout is brought to you by the letter

For FIRST grade FIELD trip and chasing around FOUR little buggers at the FLIPPING zoo!

I make it sound like it is going to be a bad thing, I did volunteer for this. It will be fun providing the rain stays away. The FORCAST calls for

Which basically means anything. 40% chance of rain could mean sprinkles or raining lightly all day. :)  All I know for sure is I am going to wear my sneakers and hope I don't lose a kid.

Do you volunteer on field trips? Or did you parents when you were a kid?

Clarks Sandal - Flo Canterbury

You had to know this post was coming. I heart my new flip flops! I have ALWAYS bought cheap flip flops. These are AMAZING and I am not sure if I can go back to the cheap ones.

Remember I ordered the Clarks Sandal - Flo Canterbury from OnlineShoes.

From OnlineShoes:

The beauty is in the details of the Clarks Flo Canterbury flat sandal. This versatile women's slip-on sandal is crafted from faux leather or metallic faux leather and is set apart by eye-catching stitching details for textural appeal. The padded, the leather-covered footbed is cushioned with OrthoLite® foam to keep you in supported comfort. The Clarks Flo Canterbury thong-toe sandal sits atop a modest heel and rubber sole designed to propel you through a stylish landscape of your choosing.
    Clarks Flo Canterbury Red
  • Approx. ¾'' heel height
  • Cushioned, leather-covered footbed with arch support
  • Fabric lining
  • Faux leather or metallic faux leather upper
    OrthoLite® Footbed
  • Rubber sole
  • Stitching details
  • Wrapped toe post

I have been searching their site for pair that look just as comfortable as I am not sure if I would be a fan of the red. What do you think? It looks a little red/orange where I prefer a much deeper red color.

Look what also showed up on Monday! No excuses! I must go run or start running again. If you are local help me pick something to train for, I need a goal race.

I know I have been talking about Online Shoes a lot, but guess what I did last night. I was at dinner at their HQ  and I seriously walked in with my flip flops! They are too comfortable not to wear every day.  I also got to see my friend Julie, who I miss running with. Even if she did kick my but every time.

Dumbbell dead lift anyone

A couple of my DVDs have Dead Lift exercise in them and I suuuckkkk at them.

Here is what a dead lift should look like in the video I am doing:

My understanding and I will say it is not the greatest is that I should be feeling this in my glutes and hamstrings. The problem is I don't. I had this same problem several years ago when I worked with a training. They gave me a different exercise to do to work that area, but I can't remember what it was.

I went searching for a substitute and wound up on a meat head forum about body building and was sucked into the snarkiness between the posts. The next thing I new I had lost track of the time. After some more searching I couldn't really find a good alternative to work those muscles

I think for now I will just switch to squats, the moves usually involve arms as well so I think doing a squat with the arm move will work the best.

Every stumble on a forum and just get sucked in to the chatter? Do you know a substitute for the dumbbell dead lift?

Weekend Update

We had a nice weekend. The husband worked some on Saturday and the kids and I goofed off!

Sunday, was a really relaxed day, enjoyed the sun, did the usually Sunday errands and overall had a great family day.

Which brings me to Monday!

Oh Monday, this week is going to be crazy for me so much going on.  The husband has a busy work schedule this week, which makes me thankful that I can stay at home with the kids. But it also tells me I need to stay on top of my game.

My workout plan looks like this:

Monday - Thursday ChaLean Extreme DVDs
Friday - Pilates DVD

My new running shoes are supposed to arrive, so I think that means I need to start running again! LOL actually I have been wanting to start running so I am going to start the couch to 5K again. You know, I feel like a failure just saying that because I started it, then switched to the 10K then stopped all together. Well, time to get back at it. Learn to love running again!

On the diet/lifestyle change front as of Friday day 18 of the plan I am down a total of 8lbs, so that is good. I forgot to redo the measurements so I am not sure how many inches this time. It will have to wait until day 30.

Alright there is my brain dump for today! What was the best part of your weekend?

Summer Shoes for the kiddos

This year, my daughter who is 6, really almost 7 and just about to finish the first grade is to cool for me. I was showing her a bunch ofKEENs at OnlineShoes and she told she didn't want them any more. She has had KEENsfor several summers because they are great shoes for kids.

Thankfully, the baby can't argue with me about shoes, so I am able to get her the most adorable Pink KEENs every early walker needs to protect their feet in the summer.

KEEN Whisper Adjustable Wild Orchid
What does an 6 year old going on 16 want? I took her 'shopping' online to pick out some of her favorites. I think we were able to narrow it down to her top 3. :)

Clarks Ayla Fizz White

Seriously, she is growing up way to fast. I wonder if I just buy her KEENs she will wear them! Her birthday is in July and she will be turning 7, but she still does not need wedge shoes yet. I am not ready for that. Evie has always wanted to pick out her shoes, so it should come as no surprise that she doesn't want me doing it for her.

Since I can't make time stop, I can control what she wears within reason. If you or your kiddos are in need of new shoes for summer check out OnlineShoes.
