Saturday Product Spot Light - It's a Psoh Life

I am in love with the scent of 4 of our new products.   A bright, clean lemon raspberry smell that is just heavenly. We now carry a coconut oil, shave cream, body wash and body powder.

I have had a chance to try the body powder already and have other's on the way. I will say I love it. I love the smell and I look forward to using it after I shower or for a quick pick me up post workout.

It's Friday already!

After the week I have had, I feel like that is a self high five for surviving it.  I started this post, earlier today and I am finally getting back to finishing it.

I started the couch to 5K again!  I have a friend who is doing it also, so we are calling each other out on FB when we complete our runs. We figure it will help motivate us to keep going. :)

As we go into the holiday weekend, I have no plans. I do want to get out and be active with the family. I talked to my seven year old and if the weather is cool we are going to try and do a small hike today.  Which, didn't happen! It is noon and we are still at home, the baby naps and we did some house cleaning.

Saturday I am going to complete week 1 of the couch to 5K and weather permitting we will go boating. But as usual, Washington weather is calling for 50% chance of rain. That can mean anything. Maybe, I should just schedule an appointment at the salon. I really need to get my hair cut. I am so over the current length.

Sunday, I would love to do some sort of family activity. We shall see what the weather does it has been cooling off which I know most PNWer's are happy about, but it makes me sad. I am not ready for fall.

Monday, I think by Monday my husband will be ready to head back to work and the big kid ready for school.  While we have a great time together as a family, when we just roam around the house in a random fashion (like this post), we get on each other's nerves.

I am excited for September to start, I am working on my September goals today and will have them posted on Monday. One bonus about fall weather, it does make running much more enjoyable.

Today is Wednesday....right?

Tuesday was spent in a daze to fully understand I need to rewind to Monday night about 11PM.  I went up to bed and checked on the little one.  She had vomited in her bed and was asleep in it.  This required waking her up, showering her while the husband cleaned it all up.  By the time we were ready to put her back to bed it was midnight and she decided it was play time.

 Around 2AM, I got her asleep in our bed. Between the kicks, head-butts and occasionally crying when the alarm went of at 6:15 I was a mess. I jumped in the shower to get to the dentist by 7AM. Thankfully, it was just an easy cleaning. Is it bad when that is the easiest part of my day.  Rushed home, husband went to work and started on house work.

10AM baby goes down for  nap. I have some time to sit and relax, job hunt, Facebook and all other things internet until the little wakes up at noon. Make all of us lunch, eat, clean up and then we are off to run errands.

To the big kids school to drop off paper work, library and Target  At Target I decided to get some curtains. We have had these vertical blinds that I wanted to replace FOREVER, like since we move into our house 11 years ago.  Back home, get all the tools. Take down one set of vertical blinds. Install curtain rod and find out it is to big...huh it was supposed to be adjustable, I can't figure it out.

Back to Target! Replace the curtain rod with a smaller one. Back home, put baby down for second nap, go to put curtain rod up and realize it is to small! WTF! Get out tape measure and realize the first one should have worked. sigh!  Call the husband and ask him to pick one up for me, he says we will go later.

4:30PM husband gets home, baby wakes up from nap and we decide on dinner. Make dinner, feed all four of us, empty dishwasher, load dishwasher.  Remove vertical blinds from front slider as the husband agrees to replace them also, YAY! Head to Target. Get two new curtain rods one for back slider and one for front slider. Note, I measured the back slider so I knew the size.

Leave Target, got to McDonalds and get a dipped cone, head home. Go to install curtain rod on front slider and it is to SMALL! D'oh the front slider is bigger then the back slider. Thankfully, the husband is able to get the curtains up on the back slider. I was not going back to Target again, that will happen today.

Get baby to bed, sit down to relax on my computer and see a friend post that she started the C25K again. I hang my head in shame and know that I need to run. I am exhausted but I can't skip a day when I just started again. Drag my but upstairs at 8:45PM and get changed, head to the garage and run for 30 minutes following my app!

Come back upstairs to find the baby awake! Get the baby back in bed, sit down on Facebook for a few then realize it is 10:30PM and head to bed.

Please let Wednesday be better then Tuesday.  How did Tuesday treat you?

Three Things Tuesday (doesn't have the same ring)

1. Why oh why, did I schedule my dentist appointment for 7am! I must have been crazy! I hope they don't mind if I go in my PJs, kidding - only kind of. I seriously have to rethink my scheduling of appointments.

2. I did weights yesterday and realized I had no plan going into it. While I put weight train on the schedule I didn't say what. I am going to need to rethink that for Wednesday. 

3. Speaking of Wednesday, I have my fist in person interview. Which means most of Monday was spent going through my clothing trying on stuff! Nothing fits! I was able to pull together about  4 different looks to pick from but I am not happy with any of them. Oh well, more motivation.

Weekend Update

We had a very eventful weekend! Very little actually exercise was completed. That should say no planned workouts were completed.

Saturday we went boating! The weather is to nice to pass it up.  The big kid and he husband did some wake surfing. It was her first time up!

It was a blast and while no formal workout we did lots of swimming. The bad part of the boat is the eating. I packed a good turkey sandwich with avocado and a large water, but caught myself snacking on the kids pretzels.
Sunday, was my husbands birthday. We went to Seattle to watch the Red Bull Box Car races. It was a blast, but ended up leaving early because it was just to hot for the kiddos.  This consisted of lots of walking, and holding the almost 20lb little kiddo in the carrier.  I think I have a new favorite photo though!  My hubby and the girls.
So with no formal workouts why I am so sore. Either way, I sat down last night and wrote out a plan for the week.
Monday: Weights
Tuesday: Run 20  min
Wednesday: Weights
Thursday: Run 30 minutes
Friday: Rest or Pilates
Saturday Run 45 min
Sunday: Rest
I am hoping having a plan in place, written down will help me get back on track.

Weekend Update

Random list of updates:

  • Friday after trying to force myself to workout, after being so proud that I did something on the days I was sick I broke my workout streak. It ended and I feel okay about it. I am proud that I did it, but it was started to make me not enjoy working out. I was more concerned with fitting it in the getting a good workout.
  • I updated my races I want to do in the next few months in the side bar. I am sure I will have a post about them and why I picked them soon. One of them, is it is all about the bling.
  • I looked up half marathon plans this weekend. Ummm...what. I am considering the Seattle Half Marathon in November. I don't know why, its crazy lofty goal, but I feel like I need that right now.
  • I might not have worked out officially on Saturday, but I spent 5 hours at the zoo with the family. Followed by an hour at my kiddos school watering the pumpkins for the future second graders.  Wow, crap my big kid is going into second grade in a couple of weeks! Where did the time go.

Five Things Friday

1. I am alive, I know you all missed me the past few days. The workout streak is alive also, but just barely. Tuesday's workout was 20 minutes or more of chasing the kids around at the park. Followed by Tuesday evening coming down with something. Where I was insanely hot/sweating and everyone else was normal. No temperature, but I was just dripping in sweat and exhausted. I went to bed early and woke up and had to change the sheets I was sweating so much. My husband even joked he was afraid I was turning into a zombie. It was bad.  Wednesday, was a better. My workout consisted of walking in place, arm punches and various other easy items,  while watching Extreme Weight Loss.  Thursday almost back to normal - I did my weight loss Pilates DVD.

2. Speaking of Extreme Weight Loss, did you watch this weeks. Chris drove me bonkers trying to discourage the contestant from doing a full marathon. While, I agree it probably wasn't the best for her body type and size. Give it a break after she has started. He asked her almost every mile up to 13.1 if she wanted to do the half. It pissed me off and it wasn't even me. I understand he wanted her not to get hurt, but enough is enough.

3. This weeks weight is the same. No gain, no loss since I stopped the Personal Trainer Food plan. This is good. I am actually changing my official weigh in day to Monday as that is when I weigh in for my other group. So we shall see if I am down at all on Monday.

4. Job hunting is no fun. I told my husband I would go back to work in September, after over a year off, but I don't want to. Plus, employers really want to low ball you.  Oh, well still looking. Have a few bites, we shall see.

5. It is Friday!! I am happy for Friday even if I don't work during the week, it means that my husband will be home and I will have some help in wrangling the kiddos. Which after this week I need. I still feel a little under the weather and hope to be back a 100% soon.

Hot mama!

Yesterday, was the hottest day for Washington (Western Side) when we hit 96 degrees and a new record.  What is funny is most PNWer are complaining about it being to damn hot. I am hot, but I don't want it to go away. I will be sad when fall arrives.

My neighbor is from Texas and she is complaining. She said she moved her because it is cooler!  I love it, even if I had to talk myself into working out at 9:30 PM last night because my garage finally cooled to 82 degrees.

Weekend Update

On Saturday we took a few hours and went out on our boat. The big kiddo and I decided that we would do laps around the boat while swimming. She decided we would do 10 laps. After about 5, she gave up but I decided to continue. 

After the swim, I added up the distance. We figured it was 50 feet around the entire boat (21.5, each side, 6ft across the back and less across the front). 50 feet x 10 laps = 500 feet. I was like wow, until I remember most people swim in yards. So, while I was proud of my 10 laps it was only 166 yards, which isn't much at all. Maybe next time we will go for 20 laps.

Speaking of that, how do people train in open water? How do you measure your distance. Is there some fancy watch that does that.  The husband and I were talking, and thinking maybe a Sprint Tri - or mini Tri next year, whatever the shortest distance is. I looked up some and it said 400 yard swim. I live by a lake, so as long as I do it in a warm month, I have somewhere to swim.

I would have to buy a bike, and I can do the run, albeit SLOW, but I could do it. Really, the swimming is what frightens me the most.

For now, I am still on the fence. It has always been in the back of my head to try a tri. We shall see. For now I am thinking of doing the Women of Wonder 5K on Sept 7th. But, I am scared. I don't know why. I would have signed up in a heart beat before Jillian was born.  I need to get over it and just sign up.  We will see if I will get it done this week.

A little fall shopping

I hate shopping. I know something is wrong with me, but whenever I go I get stressed out about finding something or find nothing. It could just be. I am just not happy with how things look so I give up really easy.

One thing I do like to do is shop online. No dressing rooms, no pushy sales people. I can just take my time and find what I want.  I have been doing a lot of fall shopping at Online Shoes.  Here are a few items that are in my wish list. I can't pull the trigger yet, the weather is just to nice.

This dress looks so comfy to me, I think with leggings and some boots it is something I need to add to my fall wardrobe.

I like gray things, back off! LOL I think this year I am going to splurge and buy some real UGGS. I have gone through enough pairs of knock offs, time for the real thing.
Women's Merrell Inertia Quilted Jacket
It is not gray! But it comes in that color! I am torn between the vest and the full coat, on this one. I am thinking the coat.
When do you start fall shopping?  Do you find yourself wearing the same fall winter staples over the years? I used to be like that but I got ride of a bunch of my coats two years ago and never replaced them. Her is hoping this years weight loss will bring new clothing.

Week 4 - PTF Vlog Final Recap

Quick Pro's and Con list:
Pros: Super easy plan to follow, full meal plan makes it even easier you don't have to think about anything, 85% of the meals were GREAT tasting, quick and easy to cook, email and phone support available if needed.
Cons: The breakfast was not the best and it got old quick, to much maple sausage for me (this could have been my error in ordering), frozen veggies get old, I would mix in more fresh veggies.
Would I do it again: Yes, but I wouldn't do months back to back.  Maybe doing it every other month or every two months would be perfect. I way to keep you me on track.  I would not order breakfast if I did it again, I would make my own. That is the easiest meal for me to make good choices.

Day 28!

WOW! I am so happy I had the opportunity to try the Personal Trainer Food program. I have said it many times that it has really helped to make me aware of what I was eating.  I have big goals going forward so I will share them today and then tomorrow after my final weigh in I will recap the program.

Short Term Goals:
1. Focus on 10lbs weight loss a month. I know that may sound high to some, but I am a larger girl, I got plenty to spare. That would only be 2lbs a week and that is totally doable if I continue to eat properly.

2. Sign up for  a 5K in September. I need to sign up that way I have the motivation to keep going.

3. Follow the plan set forth by Personal Trainer Food of meat, eggs and veggies. Limiting foods to less then 10% of my daily intake to continue to have the results I want to see.

Long Term Goals:
1. Lose 50+lbs, ultimately I would like to lose around 70-80 and I think that would put me in a great spot be able to maintain.

2. Continue the eating trend, get the family eating more healthy meals and less starch foods and white bread. That will be the hard one. My family is those people you love to hate, skinny and healthy and eat whatever they want.

3. Run a half marathon again. Maybe not in 2014, but definitely in 2015.

So there they are my new set of goals, a plan to move forward and continue on this trend. To help with my first short term goal I have signed up on a diet bet with a group of Mom's that I am friends with. We all put $25 in a pot and will split it at the end. First goal, getting my money back.

A little fun

Yesterday, we had to go to my youngest one year check up! She was healthy and growing on track.
The point of telling you that is it was in the same town as the Lego store.

Did you know that the first Tuesday of every month the Lego store has a build day for kids 6-14. The first 250 kids get a free Lego thing to build in the store and take home. My oldest was super excited when I told her we could go. We arrived at the mall at 3PM, the build started at 5PM. When we got there, there we about 10 people in line, with blankets spread out ready to be there.

We decided to walk around the mall a bit and then headed back to get in line at 4PM. At this point, I would say we were 20-30 kids back. It was hard to tell as seriously, you would think it was a Black Friday sale, that is how much people were spread out.

The let about 20 kids in at a time to build with a Lego employee, so it took us a while to get in. We were handed a packet and went in. I let the big kid run do it on her own while I chased the other one around the store. She was excite to take her monkey home, which she named Julie.

I was thankful it was over, my back was hurting from standing so long. Now I see why people bring chairs and snacks. :)

Shark Week

Not the good kind of shark week on discovery channel, but the bad kind. If you are a guy you might want to stop reading. Of course, I don't think I have any dudes who read my blog.

I hate shark week, but doesn't everyone. Anyways, I had to run to the store for the surprise appearance of my little friend and I picked up a Clean Eating magazine.

See the weight I have lost on this Personal Trainer Food Program, I don't want coming back.  I don't want to do another month on it right now, maybe in the fall. For now, I need to take the lessons I have learned from this and go forward and continue losing.  Meat, Veggies and eggs - that is not hard. I can do that. I have done it successfully for almost a month today is day 26. 

One thing I can not wait to bring back is coffee w/ vanilla soy creamer or just soy milk for that matter. That is how I like my coffee, I gave up dairy for when I was nursing, and it just doesn't taste the same. I have learned through this experience I don't NEED coffee in the morning. I enjoy it. Its a ritual, I like drinking something warm. I have tried tea many times and it just doesn't work for me. I will continue the plan almost they have at 90% and allow a few things back. For a few days I will continue to share my food on my twitter account, just to help keep me accountable.  Check back Friday for my final weigh in and final thoughts on the program. I might even do a vlog again, getting all fancy and stuff.

Any good recommendation for magazines or cook books? It has to be simple as I am a bad cook otherwise.

Weekend Update

This weekend brought a the final celebration of the birthday for my girlies. The weather was less the cooperative.  It was sunny, it rained, it was sunny, it hailed, it was sunny, you get the picture. When we arrived at 1PM it was 72 and by the time we left at 4PM it was 80 degrees. Oh, the Pacific Northwest weather so moody.

It was  small event, nothing to overwhelming with lots of fun and good food!

I know I haven't lost a lot, but one of the first pictures in a while, that I didn't hate. I liked it so much I made it my profile photo on Facebook. Always proof that you don't hate a photo.

Cupcakes for the big kiddo and a special cake for the little one of course.

I am glad, now I get a couple of weeks off from celebrations until my husbands at the end of the month. :)  
In other news, I completed day 35 of at least 20 minutes of fitness a day. I also ran a little last night, not much only 1.25 miles but my back didn't hurt, so that means the week off of rest was the right thing. Time to work back up.  I also completed day 24 on my Personal Trainer Food program.  I have lots of insight on that, and will follow that up in a couple more posts of course.

Week 3 Update - PTF

I have completed the third week of the Personal Trainer Food 28 day program.  This week was tough as I had a lot going on. Starting on Sunday, I was a 5K all morning, followed by an afternoon of celebrating July birthday's in the family. Then Wednesday, we headed to Great Wolf for 24 hours of fun! 
I was able to succeed by packing my food. I didn't end up eating it all, but knowing I had no excuse made me pick good options when we ate out. Plus, so many place will replace French fries with steamed veggies or salad if you just ask.  I got some extra exercise in by climbing the million stairs to the water slides, and on Thursday there was hardly any line, so we would finish the slide and race back up. I was worried about my results though, as Great Wolf is warm. The water park is kept at 84 degrees, and you forget to drink water. I was thankful, that it didn't impact my weeks weight loss to much. 

Week 1: 8.2lbs
Week 2: 2.2lbs
Week 3: 3lbs
