Gym, what gym

A few weeks ago I got my booty up and went to Spin class. While I loved/hated it, I never made it back. I looked at my log for how often I have gone to the gym this year and it was sad.  I looked at how often my husband had been and it was worse. I really wanted to get back in the gym, but I just wasn't making it there and whenever I went in I felt like I didn't belong.  I feel like since the last time I was there it just changed. I don't know how to explain it, just feels different.

After lots of discussion with my husband we decided to cancel our membership.  I went in prepared to argue with them about cancelling. Instead, they didn't even bother to save me or keep me as a member. I had been a member with them since 2007. That right there told me everything I needed to know.

Plus, have mentioned that I have a treadmill, spin bike, dumbbells and a ton of workout DVDs - there is no reason I shouldn't be working out at home. I also have a really nice paved flat trail near by for running with the baby stroller. No excuses.

There you have it. After 7 years of having a gym membership - I am preparing to tackle my battles at home.  I have downloaded a new running plan, but it has me running 5 days a week which I know my body cannot handle yet. I am going to tweak it and add in more DVDs to get my strength training in. Once I get the plan written out I will share.

Do you use a gym? Where do you workout most?

  1. Even though I work part time for the Y I have been using it less and less myself. It's becoming too much of a ritual, routine, mundane etc….I guess I am ready for a work out change too….thank goodness its finally getting nice to be able to get outside again!!

Also, when members come in and say they want to cancel we never hassle them. We may ask why or tell them we will miss them but we don't want them to feel bad about their decision what ever the reason for canceling may be. ;-)

    1. I think it would be hard to workout where you work. :)

  2. I actually cancelled my gym membership just over a year ago and I haven't looked back! I realized that I wasn't using it enough and it was actually doing me more harm than good in the long run by demotivating me. I like working out at home and outdoors so much more!

    1. I have been loving working outside lately. We will see how long that lasts.
