New Love - SparkleSkirts.com

Remember, earlier this month when I asked you Do you sparkle? Shortly after that I ordered a blue and red skirts from Team-Sparkle for upcoming events. Then the very next day Leah from SparkleSkirts.com emailed me. She had read my post and my complaint about the shorts under running skirts. She understood my issues and offered to send me one of her skirts to try.  She is a former PNW resident and understands that when it gets warm here that capri's are just too warm. Even if it might only be warm for 1 week of the year.

Leah has a line of SparkleTech skirts that have a longer skirt, as well as, the guarantee that the shorts under them will not ride up.
SparkleTech skirts have some great features which include:
  • 6” inseam built-in undershorts are guaranteed not to ride up
  • Exclusive inner-thigh band prevents chafing
  • Double-layered, double-stitched thigh bands resist seam splitting
  • Wicking undershorts fabric keeps you comfortable
  • Each leg sports a huge 4” x 4” pocket for your phone, camera or snacks.
  • 12” zippered pocket in the waistband carries ID, credit cards, hotel key cards and cash discreetly and safely (Fun hint: If you like your zipper in the back, try on your SparkleTech backwards—it works!) PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA! Your purchase helps provide American jobs.
  • Solid black SparkleTech skirts can be ordered with your choice of specialized logos.
Alright. to my thoughts on the skirt. Let me just say that most of skirts have been turned into swimsuit cover ups/bottoms. Because the ride up all the freaking time, however because of their moisture wicking qualities they are great for the beach. If you have a running skirt you hate find another us for it. I will admit I was skeptical that this skirt wouldn't ride up, history has proven that my body and running skirts don't work well.  I put the skirt to the test on a 3.25 mile run on my treadmill today. Its not a conclusive test, but it survived 3.25 miles which no other running skirt I own can do, without driving me bonkers.

Pre Run, ignore the hot pink top - I know it doesn't really match.
It needs repeating - love that this skirt is longer then most of them out there,
I am 5'8''  for reference.

Before I headed down stairs I drew a Red Line at where my shorts were at when I started.

A view from the top of the skirt, there is a pocket in the front. SparkleSkirts says that you can wear the skirt backwards if you prefer the pocket in the back. I will have to try that on my next run.

The skirt sits right at belly button height .

A side view

After about 6 minutes I hoped of the treadmill to if the shorts had moved. The didn't feel like they were creeping, and I wasn't adjusting them at all. As you can see the moved up about 1/2 an inch. I drew another line at that location and after 43 minutes, they had not moved up any more. Clearly the first little bit of movement was just adjusting to my body and finding the sweet spot.

I am very happy with this skirt and can't wait to try it out on longer runs, but today I felt like I could have ran longer and it wouldn't of moved much more then it did.  Best of all I didn't feel like my booty was hanging out the back of the skirt, something I know no other runner wants to see.

The skirts come in a variety of sizes up to 4X, the are comfortable with great design. The key to any good business is a good product and GREAT customer service. Leah the owner was awesome to work with, she was friendly, knowledgeable and honest.  If you are looking for a new skirt for this running season check out SparkleSkirts.com. Follow them on Facebook  to stay updated on the new skirt fabric they get in. I am already eyeing the Swirly Turquoise and Swirly Pink they have posted on Facebook.

Check out her site and tell me what you think? Cute skirts?

  1. I'm so glad you posted this because every running skirt I've tried I've had the same problem of riding up which leads to chafing. I will have to check these out!

    1. Right! Its so annoying! I have runningskirts.com - they ride up work great with capri's. Skirtsports - don't ride up as much, but the don't fit my bumm...I need a draw string or something. I have Champion and another brand and they are worse. I was pleasntly suprised by this skirt.

    1. No discounts at this time - I never thought to ask. Her website says - Return Policy

Yes! You may return any of our products and get a replacement or your money back. Please contact Leah Powell for prompt, personal attention.

And from talking with her over email I feel she really cares and believes in her product and would want to make sure it is right or return it.

  3. I love this review! I tried runningskirts.com too and found that they not only rode up, but the waist band wouldn't stay up.
Did you find that it "fell down" any in the back while running? And, did you find them to run true to size?

    1. I had the same problem with skirts from skirtsports - they would fall off my bumm. I don't remember being annoyed with it from pulling it up in the back. I plan to run longer in it Thursday, so I will let you know if I notice if falls down. I feel like this skirt sit sup higher overall so that helps it stay in place.

    2. I think you will be surprised on your long run that it is still fabulous. I also had the same issue with skirtsports and had to hold the waistband up. These are made with real women in mind. Not flawless stick figures.

  8. They're so cute, but I have yet to actually wear a running skirt! This tomboy can't get past the shorts = sports and skirt = flirt mentality!

    1. If I could wear shorts - I might be the same way. My legs do not like shorts at all. :)

    2. But with a RUNNING skirt, you can flirt while being sporty! And if I person doesn't find your sporty side attractive - CLEARLY not someone you should be interested in!

  9. Love my Sparkle Skirts, will say I think the pink top matched just fine. You also made me relook at that design. Not sure I liked it but it looks super cute.

  10. Love my sparkle skirt too :) I'm 5'2" and "pear" chubby! None of the other skirts work for me shape! When I first got my skirt and took it out, it rode up. I emailed Leah and she said that it sounded like I was "between" sizes and to do a bunch of "stuff". I did what she said and mailed the skirt back to her. Her team "fixed" it and Voila! It's PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!! I have run 5 times in my peacock noir with the longest run of 6 miles! It's going out this weekend for a race!!!!!

  11. Leah is totally awesome and I *love* my SparkleSkirts! I'm up to 5 now and pretty much never wear anything else when run/walking. I'm a "big girl" and these are the best ever. Never have had an issue with the legs riding up in the year I've been wearing them, even the ones that are now a size bigger than I need.
