Chocolate Goodness

Tuesday I decided to do a midday work. An easy 3.25 miles on the 'mill wearing my Sparkleskirt. I want to get a few more miles on it before Seattle RnR. After my run I did day 2 of ChaLean Extreme Workout.  I know it is only day 2, but I really like these weight workouts. I quickly learned I wasn't using heavy enough weights and plan to bump it up next time. I want to get through the first few workouts with out feeling like I am going to die. Then it is time to get some muscle.

While I was working out I heard some one thumping up the stairs outside. I live in a townhouse, my garage is on the ground level and there are stairs to my front door on the second floor. The problem is I share a stairwell with a very overweight neighbor. He is also super annoying, so whenever I hear the thumping up the stairs I usually avoid going outside. This way I avoid running into him. I finished working out and waited for the thumping outside to be quiet for a few minutes and I head back into the house. To my surprise on my doorstep was a package.  It was from Team REFUEL with a tech tee and an awesome Nike hat.

From the What's Your After  Peeps - Studies show that refueling with lowfat chocolate milk gave runners a performance edge; recreational runners ran 23 percent longer in a follow-up run after drinking fat free chocolate milk compared to a typical sports drink.
This year the “got milk?” campaign wiped off its milk mustache to launch a brand new campaign spotlighting the post-workout recovery benefits of lowfat chocolate milk. The new campaign “got chocolate milk?” shows how refueling with chocolate milk can play an important role during an athlete’s after-workout ritual. You can learn more about the campaign at www.gotchocolatemilk.com or at Facebook/gotchocolatemilk and Twitter @gotchocomilk #my After.
I love hats and rocked it this morning in Spin to help keep hair out of my face, down side of shorter hair.  Looking a little rough at 5AM. Yesterday and today, I used Chocolate Milk as part of my recovery. I use 2% milk, because that is what my kid drinks and make my own. I hate milk, but I love chocolate milk and love that I can now use it for recovery. Paired with some Greek yogurt and granola it makes a great meal, with lots of protein.  As long as follow portion control I can enjoy my chocolate milk! As I mentioned last week, they also have Lactose Free milk that you can purchase that is protein packed and in a pinch pre-made stuff is quick and tasty.

I plan to double up my workout again today. I got my Spin out of the way this morning and I am going to sneak in a lunch workout of ChaLean Extreme Intervals & ab burner workout. Since my abs are still hurting from the Fit test on Sunday I am scared but ready for the challenge. I have been trying to plan my workouts before I would normally eat, this helps me to be able to fuel properly without starving all night. When I run late at night I always end up eating late at night and then going to bed. If I can just get my body up early and sneak in a workout at lunch it makes things easier. If I workout super early, before 5AM I try to drink a protein shake before for some energy, but that doesn't always happen.

If you workout early, what do you eat before you workout? What about a late workout, do you eat after or just go to bed hungry?

    1. Our neigbor is interesting - very socially 'off' so he just makes conversations difficult.

  2. Lunch time runs during the week doubling with an evening run a couple of those days - weekends are for long runs - on weekends before long runs or long races (if it isn't a 5am start time), I eat a full blown breakfast(eggs sausage waffles & coffee) 2+ hours prior - low fat chocolate milk is MyAfter every time!

  3. Cool new gear...I love chocolate milk!! I get up and go to the gym a few times a week and always fuel with a Pickybar and it does the trick. I hardly ever work out late at night but I still usually have a late night snack of cottage cheese :)

  4. I usually eat half of a Luna brownie bar preworkout and love choc milk after! Lol, funny thing is, I didn't like choc milk pre-running!

  5. I love morning workouts and sometimes I go without any food, only because I'm rushed before the boys wake up! Other than that, I usually try a protein, low-carb shake...seems to keep me fueled throughout the morning workout. If it's a later workout, steel cut oats or oatmeal is my go-to!

  6. Morning workouts are my favorite, but I don't get to do them as much as I would like. There's just something about getting out there before the rest of the day begins. It just makes me feel so much better! :)
