Why do they tempt me?

I think I am going to sign up for another half in April - I have been eyeing this half for a while and well then the post a 50% of deal - http://schwaggle.active.com/seattle

I just need to check my schedule to see if I am free that day. This course is pretty flat and if I use it as part of my training for RnRPDX then it would be one long run that I didn't have to run solo. :)  What to do, what to do?

Last night, I had 3 easy miles on my plan. They were completed on the treadmill  - changing the incline from 2%-4% through out the run.  Per my usual style, I didn't bother to look at the course elevation for the RnRPDX before signing up.

Nothing like a good climb in a race. I just hope the backside feels like a down hill after that climb. :)  Either way I need to work more hills in especially when I am on the treadmill. My knee was feeling a lot better yesterday so I decided to toss in some of the leg work I missed on Monday to the end of my Tuesday workout. I did 40 squats, 50 lunges, and 90 jumping jacks. My legs don't feel to bad this morning so clearly I need to push them a little more next time. This morning was Spin at the Gym. This was the first time in a while that I was dripping sweat in the class. I wish I didn't have to cut out a few minutes early to get ready for work, I felt like I could have rode for another hour.

How is Wednesday treating you? Looking forward to the weekend?

    1. This will be my 5th for the year. I am thinking I will because I don't think I will schedule any halfs during July or August - because of other obligations so this will help me reach my goals for the year.

  2. 200 feet over 2 miles isn't going to be that bad, I promise.

  3. Is the heroes the Everett one? I did actually consider it, but I think I'm going to the beach with my mom/sister for an early mother's day gig. Bummer. Does the Portland R&R go up Terwilliger? If so, that hill is brutal! I'm signed up for that race, & have yet to check out the course map. I'm in denial. ;-) What about the Mother's Day half in Kirkland? :-)

    1. I ran the Kirkland half last year - and said never again afterwards. To many hills for me. :) Yes the Heroe's is in Everett. Not sure about the RnR - but Kim says its not bad.

  5. It's like the cosmic stars aligned and are practically helping you to push the "buy" button. I did 6 halfs last year and loved it. When I return to the half distance I will be putting in a lot of them - if you are already training for the distance what's one more (though, I'm not a serious runner that tries to PR everytime - I just run them for the challenge and the fun . . . and of course, the medal!)

  6. I am tempted by this too. I have a 13 miler scheduled that week, so what is .1 more, right? The only thing holding me back is the cutoff time because I am soooooooooooooooo bloody slooooooooow. I'd have to start with the walkers. Will they run out and cut my Achilles if I run with them?

    1. hmmm....maybe I should have selected doing it as a walker. Maybe I can start with them just to be sure I make the cut off. I checked last years results and there were people over 3 hours who ran it. I just assume the road opens up so we move to the side of the road.

  9. When I signed up for RnRPDX the course wasn't available. Then they changed the course for RnRSea. Two hilly courses within a month of each other. No wonder the name Pacific Peaks won for the special RnR medal. They are no joke. But you will rock your races!
