I am still here

I think I might be the most shocked! One year ago I started my blog in an effort to get me to my first half marathon. At the time it seemed like an impossible task. I figured I would write about in my awesome half assed writing skills in order to keep my accountable. Besides writing I signed up for a bunch of races to keep me motivated. Along the way I found many other AMAZING running bloggers, who helped to encourage me along the way.  I want to give a big shout out to all my followers, commenter's and readers! Thank you - without you I may have giving up after my first half.

As much as I wanted this post to be how awesome this past year as been we are in the middle of Winter Blast 2012, or whatever lame catch phrase news reporters are blasting. Depending on where you are in the state you may have had over 12 inches of snow fall at your house. I live about 25 minutes from the local pass and only had at most 4-5 inches. However I am impacted by all of the closures and have been working from home all week. I usually enjoy working from home, but this week its my husband, my 4 year old and me all in our small house 24/7. We have been doing well so far, but I am not sure about today as I just ran out of creamer for my coffee.

Everyday is what you make of it.....I will make this a good day, just right now I am not sure how that is going to happen.  If you have any suggestions on how to turn this slow start of a day into a good day let me know.

  1. You're so lucky. I mean I got to experience SOME snow this last weekend, but nothing to hinder me much. I want enough snow that they send us home from work!

  2. Go sledding! Alternatively, toss your husband and kid outside, lock the doors, and enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet while they figure out how to break back in.

  3. Actually after a huge snow fall I think its fun to bundle up and play in the snow with the kiddos. We make snow forts, snowmen, snow bunnies, and any thing else we can think of. THen, you can get really creative and put food coloring in water spray bottles and spray the bunnies pink or a turtle green...its cute! Kids love it!!

    Enjoy!

    1. If only my child actually liked the snow! :) love the food coloring idea though that might just work for her.

  4. I'm not too far from you, just right across the border and our weather has been crazy too. Not quite as crazy as what I hear you're getting, but still. We've been spending an awful lot of time at home too and the cabin fever is just starting to set in...

  5. Happy 1 year blogoversary!!!! Wooo - so glad you stuck with both blogging and running . . . hope you'll keep at it - I'm a fan so . . . you have to :)

Hey, could the winter blast 2012 be an opportunity to do something fun (cross training) as a family like . . . a family winter olympics including such events as timed snowman building, how many snow angles can be made in 2 minutes, rapid snow ball assembling, etc??? Just a thought to be both physically active and productive but also get everyone out of the house and focused on a healthful winter fun activity. .. . of course, you have to end with hot chocolate fun!

Hang in there - spring is just around the corner.
