Friday Five

1. I need a back-e-otomy, that is a word right. Actually today my back is feeling so much better then it was earlier this week. It hurt while running Sunday night, then Monday and Tuesday my pain level was pretty high. Wednesday I was considering calling the doctor, and by Thursday I was almost pain free.

2.  I have been antsy because I haven't been working out. Grouchy, a little short tempered and even judging other running when I see them running outside. Can we say jealous?  Clearly running is the cheapest form of therapy.

3. I think I hurt my back, again,  doing squats as part of the cross fit challenge while following the 21 day plan on the primal diet.  Now I don't blame the squats as I know they are great for me, I just think I may have set my max out number to high and caused extra strain on an already sore area when my form got sloppy. Need to be more careful

4.  I am trying not to stress out about this break, but see #2.

5. I haven't been to Yoga or Spin all week......see #2.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you have a chance join in on the Friday blog hop!

  1. Oddly enough I hurt my back this week as well. It is killer! I've discovered that I tense up when I work out or run. I remember when I first started running I tensed a lot and my back ached. This time I think I did it during a few DVD workouts. I'm conscious of it when running but I guess I didn't translate that to other work outs. Doesn't help that our mattress is horrible so I wake up every morning in twice the pain. So I can commiserate! Add onto that my already hurt foot and now a strained calf, I'm a mess. And working out has been a challenge but I am trying so hard not to let this knock me out of the game completely.

  3. i've been injured for a while now, and I think everyone in my family has been praying that I will heal so I can get back out there and stop being so crabby! It is so hard when you can't do what you love.

  4. Ugh, sorry about the back pain. I'm so restless when I can't workout, too. Are there any gentle workouts you could do to get some endorphins flowing? Easy elliptical, or short walks? Hang in there!

    1. Biking is about all I can do when it hurts, unless the pain is bad. Its a lumbar strain and my DR recommends staying off it completely and I tend to ignore that.

  5. I hope your back heals soon. I'm sore from a dang Jillian Michaels video but at least it will be short-lived. Cross-training will be a great way for you to build up strength so you can be an even better runner :)

  6. bummer girl...my shoulder has hurt off and on for about 3 weeks...finally I learned to do nothing with it. (Besides every day normal stuff) Yesterday I went to yoga for the first time...stretched a lot and it felt better.

    YES!

I am going to continue doing nothing with it and yoga so I can see the light...ha! you get it I am sure. ;-)

  8. I'm so like you - I start to judge others that are doing things I want to be doing myself! Ha ha. I have major back problems too and I find that the running actually helps strengthen it all up so don't worry about the break, you'll be back at it again soon enough.

  10. I hope you heal quickly. I'm with you on the grouchy-ness. I didn't get as much workout time in this week either because of a sick kid. Opening up wine tonight instead. Have a good weekend.
