Weekend Update

Friday I had a chance to try out the Far Infrared Sauna Therapy treatment at the Hot Yoga Studio I recently joined.  The studio promotes that the Far Infared Sauna has the following benefits:

Photo of Private Sauna
  • Burn hundreds of calories in a 20-30 minute session
  • Improves Appearance of Cellulite
  • Improves Skin tightness and beauty
  • Eases Joint Pain and Stiffness
  • Strengthens cardiovascular system
  • Relieves Muscle Pain and speeds healing
  • Increased flexibility
  • Deep cleanse skin and removes toxins
  • Improves the immune system
  • Greater amount of detoxifying effects
While I was sitting in the private sauna I was reading their pamphlets and they are also endorsed by Dr. all of the above information must be true. All I have to say if any of this is true its just an added bonus.  It was nothing short of amazing to sit in a super hot, super dry sauna for 30 minutes when it was 32 degree's outside.  I get one more free session and I cannot wait to use it, I think this winter I may be purchasing a few more sessions for those days when I am chilled to the bone.  Friday night I got 45 minute ride in on my spin bike, followed by an arm workout with  a few lunges and squats thrown in. I am not supposed to do any lower body weight baring excersise but I have been feeling good so I thought I would add in a few low reps squats and lunges just to test it out.  I finally also started my push up challenge with an 9 'real' push ups completed for my inital test.
Saturday I took a rest day and instead went and got my first post half marathon pedicure. It was heavenly! I did worn the girl before she started that I had 4 toe nails that were not so pretty, but not to worry as they didn't hurt just looked really bad.  She just laughed at me.  After my pedicure I headed to a Cookie Exchange, which is the last thing a girl on a low carb diet needs, but they were good. It was great to get a girls afternoon away.

Sunday I woke up early to head to Hot Yoga. I figured I need to sweat out all of the sweets I ate on Saturday.  Ooohhhhhmmmmmmmggggggg did I sweat out everything. I went to the Power Yoga class, which last time I went wasn't as hot as the Hatha class, but this time...ugh. I felt like I was taking the class with the Oren Ishii’s  of Hot Yoga. She was awesome, but in an really intense way! Her class was much more difficult then the last Power Yoga class I took with a different instructor.  It is amazing how an instructor can really make a great class.

What is on my plate for this week:
Monday - Spin & Push Ups, Abs
Tuesday - Hot Yoga
Wednesday - Spin & Push Ups, Abs
Thursday  - Hot Yoga
Friday - Spin & Arm Workout
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Hot Yoga

How was your weekend?

  1. Lovely! Our family does a cookie exchange every year EXCEPT this one was an exception - we did a baby shower instead. Sad to miss out on the cookies :(

  2. that sauna experience sounds amazing, great way to toast up when its so cold outside.

  3. Yum, cookies...and nice job planning out your week. You'll be ready to run again when the dr. says. Holy hot yoga!

  4. Those cookies look sooo good right now. I love/hate this time of much temptation!

  5. Sounds like a great weekend! I did one of those saunas at a salon in Kirkland, it was very nice. Probably much more so if you did it during winter; when I went it was the middle of summer.

Yum, cookies...I am so far showing fairly good restraint. We did gingerbread houses this weekend and I packed up all that extra candy and sent to school w/ my son for the class project this week. Good riddance!

  6. You're really into yoga these days: cool!

I don't really like the sauna, never go to it. Don't have the patience to sit in it.

Weekend was fine, did a lot of Christmas preparations, better get it done, right? :)

  7. I really am going to have to try a hot yoga class! The sauna sounds like it was wonderful!
