Hoooooooot Yoga

This past week I signed up for a new yoga studio that was offering an amazing offer on Hot Yoga. The Hot Yoga Experience just opened less then a mile from my house.  As a new member they offered 10 classes and 2  Far Infrared Sauna Therapy sessions for $10. I figured even if I only attend one class I figure its a great deal.

Last night I wanted to read up on it a bit since the only Yoga I have taken in a studio was parental yoga. I have done the P90X yoga, but that was in the privacy of my own home.  When I searched for the studio I must have typo'ed because Yahoo search told me they include naked yoga experience in my search results. Thanks Yahoo!  Yes, Naked Yoga would be an experience, but a type of experience that I would like to keep in the privacy of  my own home.

I went to the 8AM class hoping it wouldn't be to crowded but I bet there were 30+ people in the studio. It was a very large studio and when I walked in from the 32 degree weather it felt heavenly.  I went about 10 minutes early so I could get used to the heat in the room. Now, I love hot and humidity, but this was some serious stuff. I really enjoyed this class and can't wait to get better at all of the movements. There were a few moments where I as light headed but I just took a moment to breath and pushed through. At the end of class, although I was dripping with sweat I didn't want to leave the room it was cozy. While I am on my break from running I plan to go to hot yoga 2-3x a week. I am interested in trying out their Far Infrared Sauna Therapy, I will let you know what it is like. I checked out one of the rooms and they look just like mini sauna's which again will be so nice in to warm up in on a cold day. I think even if I didn't enjoy the yoga I would go back to sit an hour in the hot room.

Have you participated in a yoga class before? Do you a favorite kind?

  2. Sounds like an incredible experience. I have done yoga in a small class when I lived in VA, but not since then. We did Body Flow by Les Mills which was awesome. I'm hoping to be able to add at least one yoga class weekly to my 2012 schedule. I live in a VERY small town and yoga isn't available here - have to drive 45 minutes (one way) to get a class - BOO!

  3. How cool! I've never done that before, but sounds awesome and totally relaxing afterward?

I wish there was one around here, I'll have to check it out :)

  5. I'm glad you liked the hot yoga experience! I am a fan of all types of yoga as I think they all do something different for me. Hot yoga makes me feel like i'm getting a stretch session mixed with cardio (since I'm just as sweaty as I would be after a run).

  6. I've been wanting to try a hot yoga class. I've only done a normal yoga class at the Y with a friend.
