A few of my favorite things

That are so incredible bad for you! Shall we call this What NOT to eat Wednesday.

I was going to treat myself to one of my favorite fast food meals post half marathon run, thankfully my stomach didn't cooperate and I keep the calorie intake overall to minimum to keep it from cramping and well bad things happening overall. I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite and pretty much banned from my life food items. Yes, I know everything is good in moderation, but when it comes to these things they should just be banned for me.

First up an old regularly of mine: Taco Time Crisp Burrito and I wouldn't just eat one. I usually ate two with each bite dipped in ranch and then hot sauce. Followed by a order of tots and washed down with a sugary beverage of some kind.  The last time I ate Taco Time was driving home from California a few months ago and while it was tasty, I paid dearly for it later.

My post grocery shopping snack Hostess Fruit Pies. You all know the kind right, I swear they hide crack in these. They are so tasty. Before I became more healthy conscious I would pick 1-2 up at the grocery store and eat them on my way home. You read that right sometimes I ate 2 on the way home. I walk by the isle now and dream of them.  I had one a few weeks ago and it was so yummy, but I quickly remembered why I am not allowed to eat them as I will consume them without even realizing it. I get this feeling like I am sneaking something I am not supposed to have. Within seconds they are gone.  Not a good food to have in my hands. I want to enjoy my food not inhale it.

Fruit Pie

An old friend at from Starbucks the Cranberry Orange Scone packs a whopping 490 calories! I have eaten countless of these for breakfast with a high calorie drink.  That pastry counter is like a candy next to the cash register to a kid. I seriously drool over it every time I go in there. I recently switched up my drink from a Skinny Latte, to Americano to lower my carb intake. I always feel weird ordering it because I feel like they are looking at me like I am trying to get a cheap latte. When in reality I just don't want the carbs from the milk but I still want the sugar free flavoring.

There are three of my favorite things, that  I used to eat on a regular basis. I bet in the past I had Starbucks for breakfast, Taco Time for lunch and then pizza or something terribly wrong for dinner.  I wonder why I gained so much weight.  Either way I know at some point or another I will consume these foods again, but I will be aware more then ever of what I am putting into my body.

What are some of your favorite 'bad' foods?

  1. Wow. I've never had the first two. I was more of a Hostess cupcake girl.
But don't worry, I used to eat Betty Crocker vanilla frosting by the tub. Disgusting but so good.
Almost 500 calorie scones just seems wrong to me.

I think I need a little refresher with WW again....my eating is out weighing my workouts these days....tis the season I guess.

  3. I love the title "What NOT to eat on Wednesday" :) ha ha! Thanks for not putting a chocolate chip cookie or piece of cake on this post - I have not had any junk food for 3 days (I know only 3 days - but still it's been THREE days) and I'm jonesing. LOL

  4. I was just looking at the Hostess fruit pies at the store the other day and drooling. Had to walk away fast. My favorite bad foods are Cheetos Cheese Puffs and vanilla bean ice cream.

  6. I'm so limited on what I CAN eat.....I really have no "go to" favorite bad foods anymore. Yogurt with too much trail mix seems to be a recent fave. I know that because my food journal says I have eaten it repeatedly over the past few weeks. Non measured amounts of trail mix with extra handfuls here and there throughout the day. i think it's time to stop buying so much damn trail mix! lol

  7. PS....before I started WW & my husband latched onto the program along with me, he used to think those pies were a great way to consume fruit for the day. lmao He was serious! Oh, the things we do to justify our actions. No wonder we were so huge & unhealthy.

  8. Mmm, I used to love crisp bean burritos from Taco Time. Now I just snag the crunchy end of my son's if he has one.

I am lucky, because I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so on my five million trips to SBUX a day, their pastry counter holds absolutely no interest for me.

If, however, they had a cheesy roll or crispy breadsticks or such, I'd be taking in that extra 500 calories a day! They used to have a spicy cheese twist there that I lived on. I both hate them and love them for getting rid of it. :)

  9. Our taco time burned down about a year ago and they're just getting ready to reopen. Those tacos are SO good. Chips is my number one problem. Hostess snacks are not even tempting. But give me a bag of Ruffles and I'm in trouble.

  12. I could sit down and eat a whole can of Land O' Lakes whipped cream at once...sugar free, of course...that's not unhealthy, right?

  13. Our Taco Time is ridiculously slow. I only go there if it is after work and I have nowhere to be. I've actually left their drive up line twice after ordering just because the line is not moving at all.

With that said, once I go there I want to keep going back. I love me some Mexi Fries. And their new grilled quesadillas. Yummy!!
