The Sunday 10

This run was destined to fail. First I didn't up and run first thing this morning. Instead I went out to breakfast.  Final around 12:30 I decided it was time to hit the trail. I grabbed my stuff and headed out the door.  The second fail of the day was my camera battery was dead. Because of this you will get the pleasure of now only seeing head shots for the rest of the post! :) 

Enjoying my first ever Gu! Well that sounds bad. How about enjoying my Free Gu from PowerBar - did I happen to mention that is double caffeine latte flavor. For a coffee junkie this is perfect. 

Head shot number 2 - look at me all smug not realizing that my Garmin is going to fail me in about 1 mile. I plugged it in last night but didn't check to see if the charger was actually plugged in also.  It was frustrating that it wasn't working, but I figured I would need to run at least 2 hours to hit 10 miles, maybe a little longer so I checked my phone and kept track of the time. I ended up running for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
 Last head shot of the day, this was at my last out and back location. I had about 45 minutes left to run and I was surprised at how well my ankle was holding up. This was my first outside run since October 2nd and I was nervous that it was going to fail me.  The photo below is my view at the turn around point. Oh how I love this lake and this trail is becoming on of my favorites. Not only because it is completely flat, but because it also has beautiful views.

On my way back to my car I ran into Lori, a lady I met during my last 10K - she was just starting her run. As I finished my last mile she was starting her first. I made it back to my car and was feeling great. The downside is I need to get gas in my car to make it home and go to the bathroom more then anything. I really didn't want to use the gas station bathroom post 10 mile run, yea not pretty and that need to be taken care of in the comfort of my own home. I put enough gas in my car to get home and headed out.  Post run I am feeling a little sore but nothing compared to my first 10 miler so that is a bonus.  I still struggle with the first 3 miles, but after that I get in a grove and actually start enjoying my run.

  2. Agree..agree...its about the first 2.5 for me and then the 4,5,6, and feeling great...Ahhhhhh my half is only 5 days away!!

  3. Great run! I'm the same way...first two or three miles are hard! Weekend was beautiful for me. I love fall! :)

  4. I swear for me it's the first 3 miles. Period. They are always the hardest. Seriously the fact that you just casually bust out 10 miles makes you a badass in my book! You go girl!
