A no cardio week

Monday I wrote a plan that I figured would work for the week even with my travel at the end of the week. As of today that is all cancelled. I am putting myself on forced rest. I tried to run last night and with each step the pain just increased instead of loosening up. I lasted about a quarter of a mile before the pain was to much to handle and I called it quits. After chatting with my husband we decided that it would be best if I laid off all cardio for the rest of the week. Needless to say I am not happy about this, but I know this needs to happen so that my ankle can heal. Last night I headed back to my garage and did 45 minutes of strength training, I might not be able to run but I can lift weights and work on my legs. Tonight I think I will bust out P90x Legs and Back workout, as well as, Ab Ripper X - have to make the most of these next few days without any cardio.

Sometimes I need this reminder
Even when things are not going my way I can still be awesome.

What are you going to be awesome at today?

  2. I am so glad you made this post today. I am recently injured after my first half and have been struggling with not being able to run.

I needed the reminder that its not the running that has gotten me to where I am not, it was just one component and I can continue my progress to be more awesome without running!

  4. I agree to lay off the cardio. However, Legs and Back might be rough on your ankles. Might I suggest my fav? Shoulders and Arms?

  6. LOVE the quote - that's perfect!! I'm so sad for you that you're hurting, but thrilled you are resting it! Taking the smart road is not always easy, but is always wise!!! Hang in there - hope it heels quickly!!!!!! ((Hugs))

  7. Wise decision Jen. It's okay to skip cardio for a week, it's good for the body. I'm having a complete rest week too this week, not because of an injury but I did start to see signs of overtraining.

    Hope your ankle heels soon.
