Kirkland Half Marathon

The route for the Kirkland Half Marathon May 8th has been posted on their Facebook page. I am scared, but I am happy I have the route because now I can set out to drive it and see what the course is like begin to mentally prepare myself.  For me it is all about my mental state, I am 90% sure the my body can survive, my mind not so sure about that. With 5 water stations I think I should be okay not to carry water, but I am still thinking about that one as I do tend to like my water.

With less then 2 months to go I am getting nerves, but that could also be because I plan to knock out 8 miles on the treadmill tomorrow and that just sounds dull. I wonder if I have anything good recorded to watch or maybe I will just have to queue up something on Netflix. What do you watch while on the treadmill?

  1. No worries Jen, you are going to make it: physically and mentally. In 2 months you will be ready.

I have never done 8 miles on the treadmill. The most I've done on it is about 3 miles. I try to avoid it as much as I can. My gym has only sports channels on or Discovery so I usually choose a treadmill that looks across the street. This is also pretty boring and most of the times I focus on my music or think about things.

Good luck on the 8 miles.

  2. Jen, I'm a water girl, too. I did the 15k Sunday without my Fuel Belt, and it SUCKED ASS! When I want a sip of water, I want it ASAP. Not when the race route says I can have it. lol Lesson learned.

You can run this race. There are so many distractions on race day, let them take your mind off your worries. Find a pace person to follow. They'll think you're a stalker, but that's OK. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of stalkin' action during a race. You might make THEM run faster which in turn will make YOU run faster! See, positives all the way around. Good times. :)
